Registration has opened today, April 30, 2026, for Cycle 66, Oklahoma's premier Route 66-themed cycling event. Set to take place on Sunday, October 4, 2026, the event will begin and end in Downtown Edmond, drawing cyclists of all skill levels for a day of community and competition. This year marks a special occasion as Cycle 66 has been officially recognized as a Route 66 Centennial Certified event, honoring the legacy of America's iconic highway. A new 100-mile route has been introduced, extending to Stroud, Oklahoma, offering an enhanced challenge for endurance riders while showcasing a scenic portion of historic Route 66. "Each year, we look for ways to elevate the experience while staying true to our mission," said Ride Director Jason Duncan. "Adding a 100-mile route and earning Route 66 Centennial Certification are meaningful steps forward. We're proud to create an event that brings people together, celebrates this historic highway, and gives back in a tangible way." Cycle 66 will feature both recreational tour rides and USA Cycling-sanctioned criterium races. The tour rides will commence at 7:00 a.m., with criterium racing beginning at 9:00 a.m. The criterium has been designated as the Oklahoma State Category-Based Championship, increasing its competitive standing. Proceeds from the 2026 event will benefit the Oklahoma Route 66 Association and the Edmond YMCA, supporting the YMCA's new bicycle rental program. The event is supported by "Mother Road Sponsors" including Visit Edmond, Humana, Oklahoma Complete Health, Remington Park, Google, CVS Health, and Walmart, whose contributions help enhance the participant experience and the event's charitable impact.
