The British Fashion Council (BFC) has unveiled the cohort of emerging designers selected for its highly anticipated BFC NEWGEN program for the 2026/27 season. The announcement, made on May 21, 2026, highlights a refined approach to nurturing the next generation of British fashion talent, with a significant emphasis on sustained, long-term business development. This year's program sees a partnership with Pull&Bear, aimed at providing deeper and more tailored support to a concentrated group of designers.
A New Era of Support for Emerging Talent
The BFC NEWGEN initiative, established in 1993, has a long-standing reputation for identifying and championing exceptional emerging fashion talent, helping them build globally recognized and commercially resilient businesses. This year's program is integrated into the BFC's broader strategy, 'BFC 2030: Access, Creativity, Growth,' which repositions the organization from a promoter of British fashion to a strategic business accelerator. The partnership with Pull&Bear signifies a commitment to moving beyond mere visibility and providing designers with essential funding, infrastructure, mentorship, and direct industry access.
The 2026/27 NEWGEN Cohort
Sixteen designers have been selected for the 2026/27 BFC NEWGEN program. The cohort includes both established names within the NewGen circle and three new recipients: Francesca Lake, Gui Rosa, and Petra Fagerström. The full list of designers is: A Letter, Charlie Constantinou, E.W.Usie, Francesca Lake, Gui Rosa, Johanna Parv, Karoline Vitto, Liza Keane, Lueder, Octi, Oscar Ouyang, Pauline Dujancourt, Petra Fagerström, Steve O Smith, The Ouze, and Yaku. These designers were chosen for their creativity, distinctive aesthetic, and innovative approach to design across ready-to-wear and accessories categories. The selection panel was chaired by Sarah Mower MBE, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and Chief Critic at Vogue Runway, and Laura Weir, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council.
Pull&Bear's Role in Fostering Growth
The partnership with Pull&Bear, an Inditex-owned brand, underscores a shared commitment to supporting emerging designers. Pull&Bear has previously engaged with emerging talent through initiatives like 'Canvas for Creativity,' and its role as Principal Partner for BFC NEWGEN aims to leverage its resources and global network to amplify the designers' visions. This collaboration is designed to equip the selected talents with the necessary tools to nurture creative risk-taking while building businesses capable of long-term growth. The aim is to provide a robust framework that supports designers through crucial stages of their development, ensuring their creative endeavors can translate into sustainable commercial success.
